A homeless man in Virginia wanted something money can't buy for Thanksgiving - a family. His request was answered, WTKR-TV reports.
It's safe to say Neal Shytes has seen better days. The former cab driver lost his job years ago and never got back on his feet. For the past year, he's been using social security money to rent a room at a homeless shelter.
Even though he's surrounded by dozens of people, Shytes says he's never been lonelier.
"I am lonely like 365 days a year but Christmas and Thanksgiving are two of the worst days, and I really miss having some kind of family atmosphere around me," Shytes told WKTR-TV.
Last week, he asked a local news station to help him find a family for the Thanksgiving holiday. In the station's Facebook post, Shytes requested that he be taken in as a guest for just a couple of hours.
Not long after it was posted, a family in Norfolk invited Shytes to be their guest for Thanksgiving dinner. Shytes says he will cherish the new relationship.
