When a Michigan woman was insulted by two strangers in a donut store, she showed them kindness by buying coffees for them.
Dianne Hoffmeyer was waiting in line to get donut holes for her teething 22-month-old daughter when two middle-aged women walked into the store and began making comments about her weight and looks.
"'Oh look at her hair! I's nasty looking, and the roots are coming through,'" she recalled the women saying. "'Oh she's a whale, oh the whale needs to eat.'"
Hoffmeyer, who recently lost 177 lbs., started to cry, but then she saw the opportunity to be a role model: She told the cashier she would pay for the women's coffee.
She says she wanted to set a better example for her children by paying it forward rather than acting on impulse and lashing out.
Hoffmeyer posted her encounter on Facebook, and it has since gone viral, with lots of support, of course.
