ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. (KABC) -- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is back on his perch in Rolling Hills after mysteriously disappearing.

Rudolph was stolen last weekend and was never returned, but residents didn't let the mystery Grinch ruin the holiday spirit. They rebuilt the iconic decoration and unveiled it on Sunday.

The giant holiday cut-out has been a fixture in the Ranchview community for 50 years.

"Our whole neighborhood got together, the whole community. My husband built a brand new Rudolph. One of our other neighbors...she painted him and brought him back to life," said Rolling Hills resident Korry Taylor.

Taylor says the stolen Rudolph had been up for six years and was already showing signs of aging, so it likely would have been replaced within the next few years. Nevertheless, they still hope the old Rudolph will be returned.
