Toddler dressed up as 'Frozen' character told 'Anna and Elsa aren't Black'

A 3-year-old Aboriginal girl is receiving messages of support from all over the world after allegedly being told that "Anna and Elsa aren't Black" when she was dressed as one of the popular Frozen characters.

On May 31, Rachel Muir posted the following image to Facebook of her daughter Samara dressed up as Elsa from Disney's Frozen. Muir and her daughter had attended a Disney-themed event at the Watergardens Town Centre in Melbourne, Australia where they were allegedly the victims of racist remarks.

"The lady in front of us turned around to Samara and said 'I don't know why you're dressed up for because Queen Elsa isn't black,'" Muir told the Daily Courier. "I looked around the line and there were little girls of all different races lining up dressed as their favorite Disney characters."

"I couldn't believe it," Muir said.

Muir's post has been shared over 1,000 times, prompting many supportive comments from social media users.

"Just so unfair that she will need to learn one day the ugliness of Racism and how to manage this form of ugliness," wrote one Facebook user.

"Samara is gorgeous and I'm sure you tell her that regularly!" wrote another.

Samara's story caught the attention of the Australian current affairs TV show "The Project," which surprised the 3-year-old with tickets to "Disney on Ice presents Frozen" and other gifts.

Muir said that her daughter is enjoying the worldwide support.

"I can't express how much it has meant to us. I just thought it would be a story people would click past and forget," Muir told the Daily Courier. "To know that she has touched so many people ... that they see her how I see her, is just incredible."
