CAMARILLO, Calif. (KABC) -- Children's Services Auxiliary of Ventura County helps families all year, and during the holidays offers a free shopping experience.

There were rooms filled with stuffed animals, Barbies, toy cars, board games and many other toys that will bring joy to children.

Heather Swetman, a mother of eight, brought her five boys to pick something out. She adopted two children and is finalizing a third adoption.

She said it's been a rough year, but is hopeful about the future and grateful for an opportunity.

"We were kind of struggling. The kids haven't been in school much this month because of the fires. Everybody's been home. To actually get out and go Christmas shopping this year has been really tough," she said. "To be able to come here and knock out all these gifts right now is a true blessing."

Wendy McEachan was shopping for her 2-year-old granddaughter, Marley.

"She's the most sweet and adorable little girl. Smart, smart and just loving, caring," she said.

McEachean has cared for Marley since she was born. It was emotional for her when she walked into a room full of Marley's favorite toys - babies and Barbies.

"I took care of her because I was asked to take care of her because my daughter is an addict. I was asked to take my granddaughter and raise her as my own and I have," she said. "These are really nice toys, really nice toys. I'm just grateful that it's here for everybody who needs it."

These were two families out of hundreds who walked out with presents for their loved ones thanks to generous donors.
