Award-winning choreographer directs Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies
Plans for the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics World Games have been in the motion for five months under the direction of Debbie Allen, an Emmy Award-winning choreographer.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Rehearsals were underway Saturday for the Special Olympics World Games Opening Ceremonies.

Plans for the big event have been in motion for five months under the direction of Debbie Allen, an Emmy Award-winning choreographer.

"It's going fantastic. We have 500 performers. Look at the beautiful runway. It's a red carpet. It's kind of like an homage to Hollywood. The idea of the red carpet and Los Angeles welcoming Special Olympians from all around the world," Allen said.

She promised a show the public wouldn't want to miss.

"If you're in Los Angeles, you better get in your car and drive over here. There's nothing like being at something like this live," Allen said.
