LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin was suspended for four games without pay after he struck a team employee in late January.

Griffin hit the employee on Jan. 23 in Toronto. His wages will also be withheld for one more game for injuries he sustained.

The basketball team will donate Griffin's salary for those five games to charities that help disadvantaged youth in the city. According to the team, Griffin will support the donations with his time at his request.

Griffin apologized for his actions, the team said. The NBA assisted the team in determining Griffin's punishment.
