LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos isn't regretting his omission from Mexico's squad for the team's disastrous Copa America Centenario, but he is hoping to return to El Tri.

The 27-year-old's name was left off Mexico's squad for the June tournament, with coach Juan Carlo Osorio suggesting it was the player's decision.

Asked on ESPN's SportsCenter if he had any regrets about his no-show, former Barcelona player Dos Santos' answer was a brief "no."

But that doesn't necessarily mean it is the end of the road for Dos Santos and El Tri.

"I love my country and it was a difficult decision for me [not to go to the Copa America]," continued Dos Santos. "But in football you always have second chances. I know I'm doing well right now in my team and hopefully I get called again for the national team."

Dos Santos has found consistency and has been injury-free so far in 2016 for LA Galaxy and he believes he is in the best moment of his life as a player and a person.

The Olympic 2012 gold-medal winner was careful to point out that he respects Osorio and has kept the exact reason for not joining up with Mexico for the Copa America private.

Mexico's next games are in World Cup qualifying away against El Salvador on Sept. 2 and at home to Honduras on Sept. 6. El Tri is already through to the Hexagonal stage of CONCACAF qualifying.
