LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- LA Kings defenseman Slava Voynov is in federal custody following his release from jail Wednesday in Seal Beach.

Voynov, 25, had served part of a three-month spousal abuse sentence and will remain detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending a hearing before an immigration judge.

In July, the Russian hockey player pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge in his domestic violence case.

Voynov was accused of beating his wife at a Halloween party last year.
