The Louisville Cardinals have given basketball coach Rick Pitino a four-year contract extension through the 2025-26 season, it was announced Tuesday.

Terms were not announced.

Pitino has a 368-126 record in 14 seasons at Louisville and is the third-winningest coach in the program's history.

"I never looked at this as a job; I looked at it as a privilege," the 62-year-old Pitino said during a news conference Tuesday.

The Naismith Hall of Famer, who has a 722-254 career record in 30 college seasons at five different schools, was the first coach to win national titles at two different schools, having won at Kentucky in 1996 and with Louisville in 2013.

The Cardinals are coming off their fifth NCAA Tournament regional final appearance in eight years, a stretch that also included the 2012 Final Four as well as the 2013 title.
