Seattle Sounders smash FC Dallas to move back to the MLS summit

Lamar Neagle, Obafemi Martins and Leo Gonzalez all scored in the second half as the Seattle Sounders beat FC Dallas 3-0 on Saturday night to move back atop the MLS standings.

Late in the 55th minute, Neagle took a pass from Brad Evans, went to the left side of the penalty area and drilled a 20-yard shot into the far right corner past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy for his third goal of the year.

Martins, who entered in the 61st minute and wore a facemask to protect his surgically repaired broken nose, made it 2-0 midway through the 73rd minute. Gonzalez scored in second-half stoppage time for his first goal of the season.

The Sounders moved one point in front of D.C. United atop the Major League Soccer table. D.C. plays at Orlando City on Sunday.

Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei earned his league-leading eighth shutout, while Dallas is winless in its last five games.

Federico Higuain scored the equalizer for the Columbus Crew in the 66th minute after a lightning storm delayed the start of their match with the LA Galaxy for 2 hours on Saturday night.

Ethan Finlay hurdled Galaxy defender Leonardo to get to Tony Tchani's entry pass along the right side and cut it diagonally back to Higuain for the finish.

Despite lightning being spotted in the area just moments before kickoff, the Crew attracted the season's first sellout crowd at expanded capacity Mapfre Stadium.

Sebastian Lletget, in his first MLS start, scored in the 14th minute for the Galaxy. He allowed Robbie Rogers' pass to go through his legs and beat Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark with a left-footed shot just inside the near post.

Columbus had the momentum and chances in the final minutes but failed to capitalize, extending its winless streak to six games.

David Villa and Kwadwo Poku each had a goal and an assist Saturday night, and New York City FC beat the Montreal Impact 3-1 for the expansion franchise's first back-to-back wins.

Villa finished a great team buildup in the 31st minute. A quick two-pass combo from Patrick Mullins and Mehdi Ballouchy led Villa to an open space in the middle of the box.

Mix Diskerud put NYCFC up 2-0 in the 76th minute, finishing Poku's cross low and hard into the left corner.

The Impact got one back on Wandrille Lefevre's well-timed header off Laurent Ciman's free kick in the 88th minute. It was the first goal of Lefevre's MLS career.

But NYCFC answered in the 90th minute when Poku finished Villa's cross. NYCFC scored three goals in a match for the first time.

Diego Fagundez scored from the top of the penalty area and the New England Revolution got goals two minutes apart to start the second half in beating the Chicago Fire 2-0.

New England is unbeaten in its last 19 MLS home games, but the win is the first for New England in its past seven games. With the victory, New England trails Eastern Conference leader D.C. United by four points.

After playing a goalless first half, the Revolution won a corner kick in the 48th minute. Chris Tierney sent the ball to the front edge of the six-yard box, but Andy Dorman's header floated high toward a wide-open Fagundez. His hard shot went inside the far post for the winning goal.

Two minutes later, Fagundez played a free kick to Teal Bunbury at the top of the 18-yard box. Bunbury fired wide toward the far post and Charlie Davies got his head on the shot to redirect it in.
