As part of the iOS 8.3 update for iPhone and iPad, Apple released over 300 new emojis to many texters delight. The new update features ethnically diverse emojis, same sex couples, international flags, and even images of Apple products.

The Unicode Consortium, which is the driving force behind emoji for many technology companies, last November released a plan to have more diversity in emojis in the group's 2015 update.

"Apple supports and cares deeply about diversity, and is working with The Unicode Consortium to update the standard so that it better represents diversity for all of us," an Apple spokesperson told ABC News.

Other updates to iOS included a more multilingual Siri, now able to speak Russian, Thai, and Portuguese amongst other languages. iPhone users can find out if they're eligible for the update by going to Settings, then General and then tap Software Update.
