LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A big rig that was hauling glass overturned on the 5 South at the 60 East connector in Boyle Heights Monday. Shattered glass was seen across several lanes.

The crash was reported at 5:53 a.m.

"He felt the truck lose traction, and then it just flipped over. He doesn't know how or why," said Eugene Ivanov, the driver's son.

Nick Ivanov was driving the big rig. His son says he's been a trucker for 17 years, driving the same route almost daily.

Eugene Ivanov says his father suffered only a minor cut from the crash.

The big rig also collided with a van. That driver wasn't injured.

Commuter traffic was backed up for miles, as southbound traffic from the 5 Freeway was diverted onto the westbound 10 Freeway.

All lanes were closed for approximately five hours, as crews cleared the truck and the glass spread across the roadway.

The cause of the accident has not been reported.
