A fatal crash shut down a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway and the westbound 10 Freeway in Santa Monica Tuesday morning.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- A fatal crash shut down a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway and the westbound 10 Freeway in Santa Monica early Tuesday morning.

The wreck occurred around 5:20 a.m., according to Santa Monica police.

Traffic along southbound PCH was taken off at Chautauqua Boulevard. The wreck also shut down the westbound 10 Freeway near 4th Street.

It was not clear how many cars were involved in the crash. Details surrounding the fatality were not immediately known. The deceased individual was described only as a male.
