Multiple events expected to cause major weekend traffic throughout LA
Many events, including a Dodgers playoff game and a soccer championship, are expected to cause major traffic throughout Los Angeles Saturday.

PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Many events, including a Dodgers playoff game and a soccer championship, are expected to cause major traffic throughout Los Angeles Saturday.

Warning signs are posted for expected delays as soccer takes over the Rose Bowl.

Like many of the other matches at the stadium, the 6 p.m. USA versus Mexico match is sold out.

"I don't know who to go for," said soccer fan Ericka Chavez. "My mom is from Mexico and I'm from here."

Thousands of fans are set to fill the stadium and some will arrive early.

"We're planning to come at 12 p.m. to see attractions and get food," said Xavier Mendoza from Pasadena. "We're going to be hot; we're going to be hydrated and going to wear hats."

Add large crowds expected at Jet Propulsion Laboratory open house in Pasadena from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and it's bound to be a traffic nightmare in the city of roses.

Some out-of-town visitors are going from four wheels to two wheels in hopes of beating traffic.

"I think we are going to take the Gold Line and then take the shuttle to the stadium", said Elliot Willman, a SoCal visitor from New Mexico. "That's what our plan is."

Hollywood will also be full of traffic due to a concert Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl around 7 p.m.

Add in a Dodgers playoff game at 6 p.m. at Chavez Ravine, and it's likely to be a perfect traffic storm.

On the Westside, President Barack Obama's whirlwind trip this weekend will add even more congestion.

Back in Pasadena some soccer fans say they have a bigger dilemma.

"I don't know who is going to win but it will at least be even," said Gerardo, a soccer fan. "I love both of them. I live in this country so I love USA. I am from Mexico but I know it's going to be pretty tied. I can't say who is going to win."

Whether enjoying the fun or helping entertain the crowd, many were hoping Mother Nature would turn down the temperature.
