SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (KABC) -- All lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway were reopened early Friday morning after being blocked for hours due to an overturned crane in the roadway at Avenida Pico in San Clemente.

The California Highway Patrol says a big crane truck crashed into the center divider and flipped, sending debris across the interstate around 3 p.m. Thursday.

Crews spent the next 12 hours cleaning up the mess. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
