CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- The California Highway Patrol said multiple crashes involving as many as 15 vehicles closed several lanes of the 91 Freeway in Corona Sunday afternoon.

The crashes occurred around 1:30 p.m. near Serfas Club Drive. Traffic was slow from Magnolia. The cause of the collisions was not immediately released. By 3:40 p.m., the CHP had reopened all lanes on the westbound 91 Freeway east of Serfas Club Drive. Three lanes had been closed.

The crashes and closures backed up westbound traffic to Interstate 15, according to the CHP. One person was examined for injuries at the scene but declined to be taken to a hospital, a CHP dispatcher said.

It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.
