Amtrak sees surge in train riders for Thanksgiving
As millions travel by air or on freeways for Thanksgiving, several have opted to avoid the mess and take the train in and out of Southern California.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Wednesday is a busy travel day for millions of people in Southern California, which means long lines at airports and jammed freeways as people hit the road.

To avoid the messy commutes, many opted to ride trains in and out of the Los Angeles area.

"We've added all the cars that we own in the fleet and we've increased our capacity by about 8 percent, but that's all the equipment we have so everything we have is out there running today," Jack Rich, Amtrak spokesperson said.
