Approximately 246,000 people are expected to pass through Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday, what is estimated to be the busiest day after Christmas in the holiday travel season.

The 19-day holiday travel season began Dec. 15 and continues through Jan. 2. Within that time, more than 4.3 million travelers are expected to pass through the airport.

Besides being crowded inside the terminals, Southern Californians should expect to hit traffic when going to pick up or drop off passengers at LAX. Airport officials said they expect an average of 98,000 people heading in and out of the area.

Traffic hit a snag in the afternoon hours when the bomb squad responded to an unattended bag, shutting down traffic lanes before determining it not to be a threat.

Although the conditions were rough early Tuesday, not many passengers seemed to be complaining.

"It's way better than yesterday. We came from Calgary, up in Canada, and we ended up having our flight canceled and had to rearrange things to get to L.A.," said passenger James Ludward

After some record Christmas Day snowfalls, snow is continuing to pile up in parts of the United States, leading to delays for some arriving flights at LAX.

Airport officials recommend travelers arrive two hours early for domestic flights and at least three hours early for international flights.

To help ease congestion, LAX officials said they've halted construction in public areas around the airport until after the New Year on Jan. 4.

To help navigate airport parking, at least two apps are available for travelers to use. One of the apps is from Los Angeles World Airports, which can be found at Another app is from
