BALDWIN HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A preliminary 2.5-magnitude earthquake hit about 1 mile south-southeast of Baldwin Hills Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The small quake struck at about 4:35 p.m. and had a depth of about 4.1 miles.

Residents in West Hollywood, Culver City and the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood reported feeling shaking from the earthquake.

No significant damage was immediately reported.

Several hours later a second earthquake struck in the same area. It came in at a 3.5 magnitude.

Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, said the earlier temblor was considered a foreshock because both struck in the same location within a few hours.
