Rain and snow pelted cities throughout Southern California Tuesday.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Rain and snow pelted cities throughout Southern California Tuesday.

In Los Angeles County, the rain made for a wet ride home for commuters and residents getting off work. The rain has been a rare sight in the Southland, and residents said they were relieved to see the wet weather given the state's severe drought.

Ventura County residents experienced several short, heavy downpours, and some residents were caught in the rain.

For residents in San Bernardino County, Wrightwood received some snow late in the afternoon. The snow fall comes too late for many resorts. Mountain High is closed and the resort would need at least a foot of natural snow to reopen.

The lack of snow isn't just bad for business. It's bad for the state's drought, which is one of the worst in California's history.

Still, Wrightwood residents said they hoped for a good amount of snow to cover the area.

Some Los Angeles County residents hoped to save whatever rainwater they could to help curb their water use.
