Drought-stricken Southland gets light rain
From slick roads in the Inland Empire to a wet day at the beach, just about everyone in the Southland got some rain Saturday.

STUDIO CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- Rain continued to fall across most of Southern California into Sunday morning. It wasn't a downpour, but a widespread, steady rain -- the kind that warrants the use of windshield wipers and slows down traffic.

Heavy rain was spotted in Bakersfield, Ventura and Oxnard with some areas picking up nearly 2 inches of rain.

"I think, us Los Angeles natives, we hate the rain, but I'm happy that I'm not in the East Coast right now so I'll take the rain over the snow," said Eliza Armor of Studio City.

On Saturday, showers contributed to an accident on the northbound 15 Freeway in Devore, just south of the 215 Freeway, where two vehicles hit the center divider.

In Redondo Beach, light rain did not deter people from taking a walk or jog. But it did force Ben Forat to close his Studio City car wash.

While the rainy day caught many people by surprise, some say it's a welcome sight, knowing Southern California remains in a drought.

"Once you get a little rain, it's nice," said Max Kienlen of Studio City.
