The incident occurred at North Los Coyotes Diagonal and Woodruff Avenue around 7:30 a.m. The contractor of the building said the collapse was due to all the extra weight from the rain.

Steven Thai, the owner of the liquor store on the ground floor of the structure, had his car parked just under the balcony. The front portion of Thai's car was crushed when the balcony came tumbling down.

Affected tenants, who now don't have access to their units, said the collapse shook the building like an earthquake.

"It just sounded like thunder, and then I felt it shake, and I was like, 'Ok, is it thunder? Earthquake?' I wasn't sure. I heard the boom and thought, 'It was neither,'" said Kiana Siafega-Asi, a tenant.

Tenants were able to exit the structure through another balcony in the back of the building.

No injuries were reported.
