A preliminary magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck near Baldwin Hills Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. (KABC)

A preliminary magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck near Baldwin Hills Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 9:17 p.m. Sunday about 1 mile southeast of Baldwin Hills and had depth of about 6 miles.

Residents in Beverly Hills, Westwood, Hollywood, South Los Angeles and Mid-City Los Angeles reported feeling shaking from the earthquake.

Los Angeles firefighters assessed more than 470 square miles of Los Angeles and found no damage or injuries.

This was the second earthquake that struck near Baldwin Hills Sunday. The first magnitude-2.5 temblor hit at about 4:35 p.m. 1 mile south-southeast of Baldwin Hills

Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, said the earlier temblor was considered a foreshock because both struck in the same location within a few hours.
