SAN JACINTO, Calif. (KABC) -- An apartment complex and a Jewish temple in San Jacinto were placed under a mandatory evacuation order on Thursday due to concerns of possible mud flows from the storm expected to hit Southern California.

The evacuation order affects the Valley View Apartments at 20520 Highway 79 and the Hemecinto Sholom Center/Temple Beth Am at 20514 Highway 79.

Both are located near the bottom of a drainage at the base of the Soboba foothills. The last winter storm earlier in the month sent mud and debris into the area, damaging homes and vehicles and forcing road closures, evacuations and several rescues.

In addition to the evacuations, a three-mile stretch of Soboba road between State Street and Chabela Drive was set to be closed at 4 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's officials said.

Authorities said evacuation is required by 4 p.m. Thursday. Sheriff's officials said the evacuation orders and road closure will remain in effect until further notice.

There is a slight chance of rain Thursday afternoon, but the heavy rain is set to hit Southern California overnight, starting with Ventura County and pushing into Los Angeles County by early Friday morning.
