Woman sought in Amber Alert turns self in; children safe
LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman who was sought in an Amber Alert in Southern California turned herself in to authorities in Lancaster, and her children were unharmed, officials said.
The Amber Alert had been issued in multiple Southern California counties for three children traveling with their mother from New Mexico.
Authorities said the woman had threatened to harm herself and her children after a fight with their father. She was suspected to be carrying a gun in her vehicle.
Authorities said 28-year-old Laria R. Walker-Anderson was driving a silver Kia Spectra with the New Mexico license plate AAYR80.
She was traveling with her children, Lloyd Wyatt,9; Lakai Wyatt, 8; and Lexington Wyatt, 6.
The California Highway Patrol issued the alert for San Bernardino, San Diego, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties because she has family in the region.
Sunday evening, the CHP said the vehicle had been recovered in the city of La Verne. Later, Walker-Anderson turned herself in to the sheriff's station in Lancaster Sunday night and her children were unharmed.
Walker-Anderson has legal custody of the children and was not facing criminal charges. Authorities issued the Amber Alert to ensure the mother and her children were all safe.
