One person was killed after being trapped underneath a car that careened into the front part of a home near Whittier.

WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- One person was killed after a car careened into the front part of a residence near Whittier.

The wreck happened around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on the 7800 block of Rockne Avenue.

The driver, who became trapped underneath the car, was killed. The driver was described as a 24-year-old female. Her identity was not released.

One person was taken into custody at the scene, but his involvement in the crash was not clear.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
