Loma Linda University Medical Center became the first hospital in the country to offer proton therapy to treat some cancers 25 years ago, saving thousands of lives with the breakthrough procedure.

LOMA LINDA, Calif. (KABC) -- Loma Linda University Medical Center became the first hospital in the country to offer proton therapy to treat some cancers 25 years ago, saving thousands of lives with the breakthrough procedure.

The treatment, which precisely targets tumors on the body, has evolved and is used to treat a multitude of cancers.
