GARDENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Deputies are asking the public for tips about a person of interest in the attempted kidnapping of two young girls from their home in unincorporated Gardena.
Officials said a man entered a home in the 15100 block of Cranbrook Avenue on Nov. 24 at about 7 p.m.
Deputies said the suspect attempted to kidnap two girls, ages 2 and 7.
The suspect carried both girls from the home and tried to put them in a dark-colored SUV parked on the street, according to deputies.
That's when officials said the 7-year-old girl was able to get away.
Deputies said the man set the 2-year-old girl on the ground, and then both girls ran back into their home screaming.
The mother of the girls then called 911.
The person of interest is described as a man approximately 30 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds.
He was last seen wearing dark blue pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a white hat.
