Authorities seek public's help in murder of Irwindale man
Authorities headed back to the scene of an unsolved murder in Irwindale Monday morning.

IRWINDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities headed back to the scene of an unsolved murder in Irwindale Monday morning.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 25, a man was found shot to death inside of a bullet-riddled car in the 15900 block of Foothill Boulevard.

Martin Diaz headed to work at a local sprinkler factory around 4 a.m. when he was gunned down. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity because Diaz had no gang ties or criminal record.

"This is a murder that we have no information on. But we are reaching out to anybody that was traveling on this road that morning that possibly saw anything suspicious, any type of vehicles that look suspicious or anybody in the area - if they heard anything," LASD Lt. Joe Mendoza said.

Diaz lived by himself in Duarte and his family members said they have no idea why someone would want to harm him.

Workers in the area said on the day he was murdered they heard gunshots about an hour before he was found dead.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
