PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Pasadena became the latest city Monday night to approve a plan that would raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2020.

The Pasadena City Council voted unanimously in favor of the increase. The council also agreed to include nonprofits, small businesses and tipped workers.

The move puts the city in line with its neighbors in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles ordinance to raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2020 was signed into law last June.

Proponents say the increase is expected to improve the lives of 30,000 workers and get 10,000 people out of poverty.
