Pomona man shot by police after allegedly making death threats

ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) -- A Pomona man wanted for making death threats was shot and wounded by Ontario police after investigators said he brandished a weapon when confronted by officers.

Police tracked the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Alfredo Morales, from Pomona to the Quality Inn Hotel in the 500 block of North Vineyard Avenue Tuesday night.

Pomona police contacted Ontario officers for assistance, advising them that Morales was possibly armed with a firearm.

As Ontario police officers were preparing to make contact with Morales, he came out of the hotel and started to leave. When officers confronted Morales, police said he brandished a firearm, and that's when the officer-involved shooting occurred.

Morales was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. No officers were hurt during the incident.
