NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man has been taken into custody after a tense morning in Northridge, where he reportedly threatened his mother and then barricaded himself inside his home Monday morning.

Los Angeles police responded to the incident near Keswick Street and Louise Avenue.

The 37-year-old suspect told his mother he was feeling mentally ill and asked her to take him to the hospital.

While they were on their way, he reportedly threatened her with guns, left her in the street and drove back home.

A SWAT team was then called, and the suspect eventually surrendered. Police said he was arrested.

No one in the incident was hurt, according to the LAPD.
