FBI seeks bank robbers dubbed 'Knuckle Bandits'

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The FBI is seeking the public's help in catching one or several brazen bank robbers dubbed the Knuckle Bandits, who are suspected in several robberies across Los Angeles County.

In each case, one of the suspects walks up to the bank teller's window and slips the victim a note demanding cash.

The most recent robbery occurred on Jan. 20 at a Wells Fargo Bank located inside an Albertsons grocery store in the 2000 block of Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz, and authorities say one of the suspects implied he had a gun in his pocket.

The FBI also believes the suspects struck banks in Sherman Oaks, Pasadena, Reseda, Arcadia and Northridge. Every bank that was targeted was located inside a grocery store, authorities said.

The FBI dubbed the suspects the Knuckle Bandits because one of the men appeared to have tattoos on his knuckles. It was unclear if the tattoos were drawn on or permanent.

The suspects are described as either Hispanic or Armenian men with facial hair. They were seen wearing distinctive sweatshirts, ball caps or hats during the robberies.

Anyone with information on the Knuckle Bandits was asked to call the FBI or 911.
