Body of man found in Sand Fire area identified
The Los Angeles County coroner identified a man's body that was found in a neighborhood near the Sand Fire in the Santa Clarita area.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- The Los Angeles County coroner identified a man whose body was found in a car in a neighborhood near the Sand Fire in the Santa Clarita area.

The body of Robert Bresnick, 67, was found around 7:20 p.m. in the 26700 block of Iron Canyon Road Saturday.

According to the coroner, the man did not want to evacuate the area.

When Bresnick's body was found, officials said the body was burned beyond recognition. Bresnick's friend reporting him missing earlier that day.

Bresnick's body was found in a car in the driveway of a home while he was visiting a friend in the location. When authorities advised residents to leave, Bresnick's friend left, but he did not.

The Sand Fire, which is in its fifth day, has charred more than 37,000 acres and is 25 percent contained. It started small on Friday along the 14 Freeway near Sand Canyon, but quickly erupted into a massive wildfire with the help of strong winds and dry brush in the hillsides.
