CORONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman was killed after being hit by a car in Corona in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Around 3 a.m., Corona officers and firefighters responded to reports of an unconscious woman on the street in the 1400 block of E. Sixth Street. When police arrived, they found a 33-year-old woman dead in the street near El Camino Avenue.

Authorities retrieved surveillance video from the area that showed the woman had been hit by a light-colored sedan traveling eastbound on Sixth Street. The driver did not stop after striking the woman and fled the scene, continuing east.

It was unclear if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the crash. The woman was identified as Diana Mellott, of Riverside.

No arrests were made. The investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with more information was asked to call Officer Tim Najmulski at (951) 736-2330.
