SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A woman suspected of DUI was taken into custody in Watts on Wednesday evening after leading LAPD officers on a bizarre and intermittent chase.

The pursuit began shortly after 11 p.m. in the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division, a spokesperson for the agency said, then made its way southbound on the 110 Freeway and into South L.A.

The driver exited the freeway at Imperial Highway and continued on through the streets of Hawthorne, briefly pulling over several times before again fleeing from police.

After driving over a spike strip deployed by officers, the four-door sedan slowed to a stop on Imperial Highway, aerial footage from AIR 7 HD showed.

The woman then exited the car and was taken into custody without incident.
