Many versions of the phone sold out in preorders, the tech giant said. But that did not deter people from waiting in line for a few hours before the stores opened in an attempt to get a phone.
Preorders for the iPhone 7 were up by about four times from the previous two models of the device. The company claims the iPhone has one of the best cameras, a longer-lasting battery, is water and dust resistant and lacks a headphone jack.
Many people waited in line at an Apple store in Old Town Pasadena, the line stretching around the block.
"I want the new phone, and I want it as soon as it gets out. I've always been liking iPhones and I want to get that iPhone," South Pasadena resident Mark Aziz said.
The iPhone 7 starts at $649 and the iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769.
