DEL MAR, Calif. (KABC) -- A man from Woodland Hills has died after falling off the back of an RV on the 5 Freeway.

Witnesses told police they saw the 26-year-old man hanging off a ladder on the vehicle around 11 p.m. Monday night, according to Curtis Martin of the California Highway Patrol.

It all happened on the northbound side of the 5 Freeway in Del Mar.

The man suddenly fell off the step ladder and was hit by multiple big rigs and passenger cars, Martin added.

Police said they were looking into what the man was doing on the RV, and they were searching for the driver of the vehicle.
