LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- BallotCon, a first of its kind ballot measure conference, will allow Angelenos the opportunity to learn about statewide ballot measures before Election Day.

Those attending the one-day free event will hear from sponsors and opponents of each statewide ballot measure, ranging from gun control, marijuana legalization and the death penalty.

BallotCon, which will be the first ever live ballot measure conference, hopes to shed light on the many complex issues on this year's ballot and aims to help voters make informed decisions come Nov. 8.

The event is open to the public and will be held at Los Angeles City Hall in the City Council Chambers on the third floor from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

BallotCon will also feature music, food and exhibits in the City Hall Spring Street Courtyard.

If residents can't make it to city hall that day, each debate will be taped and broadcast on the California Channel and partner websites.
