PANORAMA CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect was taken into custody Thursday morning after a shooting involving a federal officer at a home in Panorama City, authorities said.

Few details were immediately disclosed about the incident. According to the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division, the shooting occurred at about 4:30 a.m. at a townhouse in the 14000 block of Terra Bella Street.

A federal officer shot at a suspect, but that person was not struck by gunfire, the LAPD said. A City News Service report described the officer as a Department of Veterans Affairs employee.

It was unclear what the person in custody was suspected of, or what prompted the officer to open fire.
