MID-CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were transported to a hospital after their patrol car hit a light pole and slammed into a building in Mid-City on Tuesday, authorities said.

The crash was reported at about 2:20 a.m. on La Cienega Boulevard at Guthrie Avenue, a spokesperson for the LAPD's West Traffic Division said. Both officers sustained injuries described by police as "not serious."

The driver of the patrol vehicle swerved after being cut off by another vehicle, investigators said.

A witness said the LAPD cruiser was traveling at a high rate of speed, with its emergency lights and sirens turned off, at the time of the collision.

No description was given of the other vehicle whose maneuver was said to have led to the crash.

La Cienega was closed for several blocks as crews worked to clear the scene.
