'Chanukah Angels' deliver gifts to children battling serious illnesses
A group called Chai Lifeline has 'Chanukah Angels' deliver presents to Jewish kids battling serious illnesses.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- A group from the YMCA are considered "Chanukah Angels" for delivering presents to Jewish kids battling serious illnesses.

They're part of Chai Lifeline, and children give wish lists during Chanukah time. Then hundreds of angles, such as the Buchman family, go shopping.

"The children were their age and so it was a great connection for the kids," Jenny Buchman said.

Randi Grossman helps run the program and said it's an example of "the goodness people have in wanting to help others."

The group has been doing Chanukah Angels for 10 years and helped thousands of kids.

Ten years ago, Leah and Maya received their first gift from Lisa Pompan, and she's been sending them presents every year since.

"We hope we can see them off to college so we can help them achieve that," Popman said.

Maya, who is almost 6 years old, received her gifts after recently battling cancer. She was crowned a princess.

"I just want to say thank you so I can be here today," she said.
