2 suspects wearing blue masks, hoodies sought in Sunland gas station armed robbery

SUNLAND, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Armed robbery suspects made off with more than $1,500 in cash after holding up a clerk at a Shell gas station in Sunland.

The robbery happened around 3 a.m. at a station in the 8400 block of Foothill Boulevard. Surveillance video showed two men wearing blue hoodies and masks walk in. One of the men pulled out a gun and held up the overnight clerk.

The clerk, Pedro Rosales, said the men took $1,500 cash from the register then stole his wallet that had $200 cash inside and his cellphone.

"My stomach sank and in the back of my mind I was like, 'Please tell me it's a prank or something.' But it wasn't. Once I saw that gun, I knew, this could be it," Rosales said.

The suspects also yanked out the phone cords from the wall so that Rosales could not call 911. Once they were done, they fled from the store.

Rosales said he waited a few moments and then went to a 7-Eleven across the street to call for help.

The owner of the gas station said he's glad no one was hurt.

"I wish people would go get a decent job and stop what they're doing. That's not the way to make a living - to just go and rob people," he said.

Authorities urged anyone with more information to call the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division.
