A man was shot in an robbery attempt at an intersection in Leimert Park Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

LEIMERT PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was shot in an robbery attempt at an intersection in Leimert Park Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Homeland Drive. A suspect walked up to the passenger side of a vehicle and attempted to rob the victims.

The suspect pulled out a gun and fired into the vehicle, striking the male passenger.

Authorities said the female driver crashed her vehicle in a panic and was not shot. Initial reports indicated a man and woman were shot in the head, but during the investigation that was clarified.

The man was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition.

Footage from AIR7 HD showed two cars, a sedan and an SUV stopped at the intersection. The description of the suspect was only a man with a gun.

The investigation was ongoing.
