ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) -- A video posted on social media shows an argument between teenage students and a cafeteria worker that developed into a brawl at a school in Ontario.

The footage, published Wednesday on Snapchat, shows several students pushing and throwing punches at Chaffey High School.

"It was just dumb," said student Alfredo Alvarado, describing what apparently prompted the incident. "This kid littered on the floor basically and then the janitor got mad, like, pick it up."

A heated argument ensued. The school employee, wearing a visor and a blue shirt, is seen pushing one of the teens. The worker is then shoved by another student.

Moments later, a brawl erupts and the employee ends up on the ground, pummeled by at least one student.

"If he wouldn't have pushed that kid, maybe that wouldn't have happened," said student Jared Winslow.

The melee was eventually broken up by campus security officers. No serious injuries were reported.

Marian Ramirez, who also attends Chaffey, said the janitor "could have been a little more mature and taken it more serious, and taken it to the principal instead, and not actually fight back to the students."

In a Thursday statement, Superintendent Mathew Holton of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District said the incident was under investigation.

"The employee has been placed on administrative leave and seven students involved are not at school today, pending results of the investigation," Holton said.
