SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- Residents have lost their bid to stop a mixed-use development in Santa Monica.

Some locals complained the four-story development on Lincoln Boulevard would have a devastating effect on the neighborhood.

Homeowners worried about the added traffic to their nearby residential neighborhood, but the Santa Monica City Council disagreed and voted unanimously against the appeal.

The developer can now move forward with the 59,319-square-foot project.
