RIALTO, Calif. (KABC) -- A brush fire ignited in Rialto as firefighters tackled the blaze amid windy conditions.

The blaze began Sunday night and was reported around 10:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Terrace Road. Although it was under an acre in size, fierce winds made for difficult conditions for firefighters.

San Bernardino County Fire had said it requested two strike teams and performing structure defense, but by 12:30 a.m. Monday, the department said forward spread had been stopped.

Units were to remain at the scene to mop up, and officials warned to use caution in the area.

Hand crews and dozers were summoned as reinforcement.

No structures appeared to be threatened by the fire. It was not immediately known how many acres the fire had burned or what caused it.
