With a heat wave hanging over Southern California, a brush fire burned on a hillside in Pomona Monday evening.

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- With a heat wave hanging over Southern California, a brush fire is burning on a hillside in Pomona Monday evening.

The fire burned about 10 acres of hillside brush at Gillette Road and Dudley Street, just north of the westbound 10 Freeway. It was reported around 5:30 p.m.

The Coco Palm Restaurant was threatened by the blaze, but structure protection measures were in place and the building was not damaged.

The county fire department had 85 firefighters battling the blaze, along with three helicopters and four hand crews.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported and the blaze was contained to 10 acres.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
