Moorpark High School lockdown lifted after 'swatting' call

MOORPARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Lockdowns for several Moorpark Unified School District schools were lifted Monday following what authorities are calling a "swatting" incident.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, a call was made overnight, not during school hours, and threatened harm and damage to those at Moorpark High School.

In addition to Moorpark High School, the lockdown also included nearby Campus Canyon Elementary and Walnut Canyon School as a precaution. Police and sheriff's deputies were on scene and were looking for a student who they believe is involved with the call.

No injuries were reported.

The Moorpark Unified School District confirmed that the schools were on lockdown but did not elaborate further on the reason. No further information was immediately available.
